Our co-Founder, Olivia, had the privilege of being a speaker at the Malaysian Health and Wellness Summit on October 25th, 2023. The increasing elderly population poses social and financial challenges and puts immense strain on the health system due to marked shift toward chronic non-communicable diseases. There is a need to the medical and socio-economic problems of this vulnerable group and promote healthy ageing.
This session will discuss on Maintenance of healthy function in the elderly and the importance of detecting severe disease at an early stage. It will also discuss the challenges and opportunities of:
iElder is known for the supply of geriatric beds, furniture, aid and surveillance tools. Moving forward, what trends do you see when it comes to equipment and how can we better care for our aged?
Hello, I'm Olivia from iElder, a medical supply company specializing in elderly care. We're observing a growing trend in the integration of IoT and AI in senior care. The desire for aging in place is paramount for our elderly parents. To ensure their safety and enhance their quality of life, it's imperative to conduct a thorough hazard assessment and make necessary modifications to their living environment as we've witnessed numerous instances of elderly parents experiencing falls at home.
We've witnessed instances where parents return home after a fall, but their children may feel ill-equipped to provide proper care due to a lack of knowledge. This sometimes leads to the difficult decision of transitioning them to a nursing home. We firmly believe in the principle of prevention being superior to cure. Conducting assessments can preemptively address potential issues.
Rather than transitioning from a hospital bed to their residence, many senior parents express a preference for a wooden home care bed equipped with hospital-grade features for use in their own homes. Additionally, it's essential to incorporate lifestyle components into the setup. Read more
Regarding IoT, the installation of an elderly monitoring system is pivotal in maintaining their safety at home while respecting their privacy. Our system includes an SOS panic button that can alert up to eight pre-registered contacts. In cases where pressing the button isn't possible, motion sensors strategically placed in their home can also trigger alerts.
We've contributed over ten assistive technologies to the Gerontechnology Lab at Monash University for research on indoor mobility. The results underscore the importance of utilizing such technology to help individuals regain a sense of normalcy in their lives.
Expect iElder to continuously introduce more AI, IoT, robotics, and innovative products in the future. We're dedicated to advancing the field of elderly care.
iElder is pleased to support Monash Univerisity Malaysia on the research paper on Overcoming cognitive frailty among older adults through mobility solutions for seamless and sustainable aging (For indoor mobility). Please feel free to participate this research.
Are you above 60 years old?
Are you a caregiver of an adult aged 60 years and above?
Are you a caregiver of an individual with mobility challenges?
Are you interested in the future of assistive technologies and their use by older people or those who experience mobility challenges?
A team at Monash University Malaysia is conducting a demonstration of the latest assistive technologies and undertaking a survey and an interview with individuals to understand their perceptions about assistive technologies for ageing and mobility.
The attached recruitment notice provides more detail. If you are interested in participating in 80-minute study (Monash HREC project # 39857), please email teh.pei.lee@monash.edu

]]>Meet Lily Fu, a compassionate and devoted daughter with a heart of gold. Her unwavering love for her elderly mother, led her mother on a remarkable journey to ensure her comfort and well-being during her golden years.
As her mother's health began to decline, Lily realized that caring for her at home was becoming increasingly challenging. Determined to find the best care possible, Lily set out to find a suitable nursing home that could cater to her mother's specialized needs.
Her search took her to various nursing homes in the city, where she encountered numerous challenges. Lily was not just looking for top-notch medical care; she wanted a place that treated its residents with the utmost respect and dignity.
Driven by her passion for advocating seniors' issues, Lily had a strong educational background. Holding a Master's degree in Applied Gerontology from NTU Singapore and a Master's in the Teaching of English as a Second Language from University Malaya, she was also a certified professional trainer.
In 2008, Lily founded SeniorsAloud, the first online seniors community, where she shared valuable insights, organized events, and wrote about issues affecting seniors. Her platform gained a dedicated following of seniors who eagerly read her postings and attended the community's events.
Lily's commitment to advocating for seniors extended to her involvement with various organizations, including being the first editor of The Senior Magazine published by Third Age Media and serving as an integral committee member of the University of the Third Age (U3A) KL & Selangor She is also The Star's Columnist and also involve in advocacy work for the Malaysian Coalition on Ageing.
With over eleven years of experience working with NGOs for senior citizens and conducting extensive research on nursing homes, Lily had gained invaluable knowledge and expertise in aged care facilities and retirement homes.

Embracing the role of a filmmaker, Lily embarked on a new project titled "Meniti Senja." The short film highlighted the poignant story of Puan Muji Sulaiman, a retired nurse, who established Malaysia's first private Muslim aged care home in 1998. Puan Muji's dedication touched the hearts of many, as she provided a safe haven for elderly patients upon their discharge from hospitals.
With the proceeds from book sales, Lily and her team showed her appreciation for Puan Muji by investing in fitness and wellness products from iElder for the care home. Her actions exemplified the spirit of gratitude and selflessness that had guided her advocacy work.
Currently, Lily's focus is on projects related to "Healthy Ageing" and "Ageing-in-Place," as she believes this will become the preferred option for many elderly individuals in the near future.
In conclusion, Lily Fu's journey is an inspiring tale of love, determination, and advocacy. Through her tireless efforts, she has made a significant impact on the lives of seniors in Malaysia, ensuring that they are treated with respect, dignity, and compassion as they age gracefully.
Her dedication to empowering seniors and preserving their stories for future generations is truly commendable, and her legacy will continue to enrich the lives of countless individuals in the years to come.

Our story begins with my husband Dr Kong Why Hong, a medical doctor and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) specialist. In 2012, he started integrative medicine clinics and a nursing home, providing holistic healthcare solutions to patients. Little did we know that this venture would eventually lead us to create iElder.
The pivotal moment came when my mother had a fall in the bathroom while I was at work. It was a distressing incident, and luckily, after struggling for two hours, she managed to contact me. This incident sparked a deep concern for the safety and well-being of aging parents, like mine, who wish to maintain their independence at home.
Driven by this incident, I embarked on a mission to find SOS fall detection devices that could offer peace of mind to families like ours. After extensive research, I discovered a device that proved to be a game-changer. Realizing the potential impact it could have on the lives of other aging parents, I decided to share it with the world through an ecommerce platform.
That was the birth of iElder, started with the first product, second product and eventually become importer, exporter, distributor, and retailer of elderly care products. We cater to both business-to-business (B2B) channels, such as hospitals, pharmacies, clinics, and nursing homes, as well as business-to-consumer (B2C) sales through our own ecommerce platform and popular marketplaces like Shopee and Lazada.
Our purpose is to empower families and caregivers with the tools and resources they need to provide better care for their loved ones. We believe that every elderly person deserves the opportunity to age gracefully, in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. Through our range of carefully curated products, we aim to enhance their safety, well-being, and quality of life.
As we continue to grow, we remain committed to our digital strategies that have helped us navigate the ever-evolving digital economy. Our online presence and partnerships with various online platforms have allowed us to reach a wider audience, connect with customers directly, and provide accessible and convenient solutions.
In conclusion, iElder is more than just a business—it is a heartfelt endeavor to make a positive difference in the lives of aging individuals and their families. We are dedicated to providing innovative and practical solutions in the field of elderly care, driven by our own personal experiences and a genuine desire to create a better future for our loved ones.
Certainly! Transitioning from the corporate world to the business world was a significant change for me, especially considering the substantial difference in pay from my previous high-paying job to starting a business with a salary similar to that of a fresh graduate. It was undoubtedly a challenging decision to make, and I had my hesitations and doubts about my capabilities as a woman entrepreneur.
For some time, I was uncertain about fully committing myself to the business world. However, everything changed during the Covid-19 pandemic in October 2020. It was during this challenging time that I made the decision to assist my husband in running his business, taking on the responsibility of leading the iElder medical supply division on a full-time basis.
This transition was not an easy one, as it required me to face my doubts and overcome any insecurities I had as a woman in the business world. It required courage, resilience, and a willingness to embrace new challenges. While the journey has had its share of ups and downs, I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to iElder and make a difference in the lives of individuals in need of medical supplies and care.
Stepping into this role has been a transformative experience for me, allowing me to grow both personally and professionally. It has taught me valuable lessons about perseverance, adaptability, and the power of believing in oneself. Despite the initial uncertainties, I am now fully committed to my entrepreneurial path and am driven to succeed in this new venture.
While the journey may not always be smooth, I am motivated by the positive impact we can make in the lives of others through iElder. I am determined to navigate the challenges, continue learning and growing, and contribute to the success and growth of our business in the medical supply division.
Overall, taking the leap into the business world as a woman entrepreneur has been a transformative experience for me. It has taught me the importance of embracing opportunities, challenging self-doubt, and stepping outside of my comfort zone. I am excited about the future and committed to making a meaningful difference through iElder's medical supply division.
When it comes to being a woman entrepreneur in Malaysia, my experience has been quite similar to that of my male counterparts. However, I believe it's crucial to associate oneself with the right business networks and support systems.
During my career, I made the decision to join the National Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Malaysia (NAWEM). This organization provided me with a platform to connect, network, and collaborate with like-minded individuals. Through NAWEM, I had access to mentorship programs that allowed me to enhance my skills and knowledge through various entrepreneurship masterclasses tailored for women.
I had the opportunity to participate in the Women Directors Mentoring Programme. This program is dedicated to achieving a 30% representation of women in board positions. It plays a significant role in fostering a diverse and inclusive corporate landscape. By providing support, skills development, and opportunities, the program aims to empower women to take on decision-making roles and promote gender equality in corporate governance.
In addition to my entrepreneurial pursuits, I am actively involved in various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) within the elderly care network and industry in Malaysia. These include the Malaysian Coalition on Ageing (MCOA), the Association for Residential Aged Care Operators of Malaysia (AGECOPE), and the Nursing Care Association of Selangor (NCAS).
I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to participate in the SME CEO Training Programme offered by SME Corp under their SME University programme initiative. This training programme has been instrumental in equipping me with valuable skills, knowledge, and insights that are essential for successfully leading a small and medium enterprise (SME). The comprehensive curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including leadership, strategic planning, financial management, marketing, and digital transformation.
Through my participation in these organizations, I have gained valuable insights, expanded my network, and contributed to the development of the elderly care sector.
When reflecting on the lessons learned and best practices in developing our business, particularly in embracing digitalization, several key areas stand out: e-commerce, warehouse management systems, cloud-based accounting systems, social media marketing, and an omni-channel strategy.
Ecommerce: Shopify
Twenty years ago, my best friend Anna Lee and I embarked on an ecommerce venture, focusing on skincare products named Lady Cottage. We believed that the women's market presented a great opportunity for generating high income. However, we encountered numerous challenges as the ecommerce industry was still in its early stages at that time. Ultimately, we had to make the difficult decision to close down this part time venture.
Undeterred by the setback, I ventured into the ecommerce platform once again, this time with a focus on elderly care products. However, this decision was met with criticism from many of my friends, as they believed that baby products and the women's market were more lucrative. Despite facing skepticism, I remained determined to pursue my passion for serving the elderly care market.
Initially, I encountered obstacles while trying to engage a web developer to build my own ecommerce platform named asianintegratedmedical.com, which proved unsuccessful. Undeterred, I sought assistance from ecommerce platform companies to named the website as iElder.my, but unfortunately, those attempts also fell short. Nevertheless, I persevered and made the decision to migrate to an another ecommerce platform Shopify and named the website as iElder.asia.
This move turned out to be a turning point for my business. By embracing an international ecommerce platform, I gained access to a wider customer base and expanded my reach beyond local boundaries. iElder serves not only local and also international customers outside of Malaysia. This shift enabled me to overcome the challenges I had previously faced and allowed my venture into the elderly care product business to flourish.
Though the journey was not without its difficulties, I learned valuable lessons along the way. It taught me the importance of resilience, adaptability, and staying true to my passion. iElder was also shorted listed as Top Ecommerce Merchant Awards 2021, 2022 and 2023 by Selangor State Government Sidec.
The experience has reinforced my belief that sometimes, unconventional ventures can yield unexpected rewards. By following my instincts and persistently pursuing my vision, I was able to overcome challenges, defy critics, and build a thriving business in the niche market of elderly care products within the ecommerce industry.
In addition to our ecommerce operations, we have embraced various technologies and strategies to enhance our business operations.
Cloud Based Accounting System
One significant step we took was adopting a cloud-based accounting system. By leveraging this technology, we have streamlined our financial processes, improved accuracy, and increased efficiency in managing our accounts. The cloud-based system provides us with real-time access to financial data, enabling better decision-making and financial analysis.
Social Media Marketing
To connect with our customers and enhance brand awareness, we have embraced social media marketing platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and TikTok. These platforms allow us to engage directly with our target audience, share relevant content, and build a community around our brand. Through social media marketing, we can effectively communicate our products, promotions, and company values, fostering customer loyalty and brand recognition.
Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
Recognizing the importance of efficient inventory management, we have implemented a Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. These technologies have significantly improved our inventory control processes, ensuring accurate tracking, efficient order fulfillment, and optimal stock levels. By leveraging WMS and ERP, we have enhanced our overall supply chain management and streamlined our operations.
Cloud Based Payroll System
Conveniently manage your Human Resource activities such as attendance recordings, leave requests, claims, and tax calculations and reports with cloud base payroll system
By adopting these technologies and strategies, we have transformed our business operations and positioned ourselves for growth and success. The cloud-based accounting system, social media marketing, and advanced inventory management systems have enabled us to operate more efficiently, connect with customers effectively, and maintain control over our inventory. These tools have become integral to our business and have contributed to our overall competitiveness and success in the market.
Omnichannel stategy
In addition to our online product promotion, we have established physical showrooms to showcase our offerings. Currently, we have two outlets located in the Klang Valley SS2 and Cheras. However, our expansion plans for this year include setting up additional outlets in Johor, Penang, and Kuantan through partnership. We have devised expansion plans to extend our presence into various ASEAN countries within the region.
We extend our gratitude to the Malaysian government agencies, including MDEC (Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation), SME Corp, and MATRADE, for their invaluable support in providing SME grants to businesses like ours to embrace digitalization.
Navigating competition and market dynamics can indeed be challenging, especially in a crowded market. To overcome these challenges, I have adopted several strategies:
1. Unique value proposition: I have identified and emphasized the unique value proposition of iElder. While many competitors in the rehab supply industry cater to various segments, iElder focuses exclusively on elderly care. This specialization allows us to offer tailored products and services that specifically address the needs of the elderly population, differentiating us from broader competitors.
I would like to engage with the audience and pose a question: when you think of toothpaste, which brands come to mind? Some may mention Colgate, while others might think of Darlie. Similarly, in the realm of elderly care products and services, iElder aspires to become a household name. Still long way to go!
2. Strong persona: Developing a strong persona and targeted marketing approach is crucial. By understanding our target audience—caregivers of individuals recently discharged from hospitals—we can tailor our messaging and solutions to their specific needs. This personalized approach helps build trust and loyalty among our target customers.
3. Continuous innovation: Innovation is key to meeting evolving customer needs. We continually assess market trends, customer feedback, and industry advancements to ensure that our products and services remain relevant and valuable. For instance, we offer a range of options, including product purchase, rental, and second-hand options, to accommodate the varying short-term and long-term needs of our community.
We have been actively established collaborations with local universities to invent new technologies in the field of elderly care and expand their commercialization on the international stage.
Despite not having a healthcare background, I am determined to excel in the elderly care industry. To further my knowledge and expertise in this field, I am actively searching for a suitable PhD program focused on healthy aging. My research interests lie in exploring the intersection of Internet of Things (IoT) and technology within the realm of elderly care.
By pursuing a PhD in healthy aging, I aim to delve deeper into the potential applications of IoT and technology in enhancing the well-being and quality of life for the elderly. I believe that by conducting research in this area, I can contribute to the development of innovative solutions that address the specific needs and challenges faced by older adults.
While embarking on this academic journey might be a significant undertaking, I am eager to expand my understanding of healthy aging and the role that technology can play in promoting independence, monitoring health, and facilitating a higher quality of care for seniors.
By focusing on our unique value proposition, targeting our marketing efforts effectively, and continuously innovating, we strive to stay ahead of the competition and meet the specific requirements of our customers in the elderly care market. These strategies enable us to differentiate ourselves, capture market share, and provide comprehensive solutions to caregivers and individuals in need.
Recognizing the growing significance of sustainability, we at iElder understand the importance of incorporating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices into our business. While we acknowledge that there is more work to be done, we are committed to learning and taking steps to integrate ESG principles into our operations. Here's how we value sustainability in our business:
1. Environment Responsibility: We strive to partner with suppliers who share our commitment to sustainable practices. By collaborating with eco-conscious suppliers, we aim to reduce our environmental footprint and contribute to a more sustainable supply chain. We strive to embrace digital solutions while minimizing the need for excessive printing on paper.
2. Social Impact: We have actively undertaken various social responsibility initiatives. This includes partnering with charitable organizations, sponsoring events, and participating in community outreach programs. For instance, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we worked closely with NGOs to provide free personal protective equipment (PPE), hand sanitizers, and masks to senior care facilities and homes. We also collaborated with Monash University on a senior home improvement program aimed at improving the living conditions of seniors. Additionally, 5% of our profits are allocated to CSR programs focused on elderly care, enabling us to make a positive social impact.
3. Corporate Governance: Transparency, integrity, and accountability are core principles we uphold within iElder. We strive to practice sound corporate governance, ensuring that our business operations are conducted ethically and responsibly. Open communication with our stakeholders, including customers, employees, and partners, is integral to maintaining trust and fostering mutually beneficial relationships.
As we continue our sustainability journey, we are committed to further integrating ESG considerations into our business practices. We are dedicated to continuously learning, improving, and finding innovative ways to align our operations with sustainable principles. Our goal is to create long-term value not only for our business but also for the environment and the communities we serve.

The accommodation options include one-bedroom deluxe, two-bedroom deluxe, two-bedroom premiere, and three-bedroom premier. All the premier apartments are equipped with a fully furnished kitchenette, air conditioning with individual controls, satellite TV, a refrigerator, and various other electronic devices, ensuring that all our daily needs were catered to.
What sets Domitys Bangsar apart is its exceptional range of facilities. The community features a large pool, an activity lounge, a gym, a karaoke room, and a variety of weekly activities such as yoga, line dancing, mobility training, and cooking demonstrations, among others. These activities were designed specifically for seniors, and they truly added to the vibrant and engaging atmosphere of Domitys Bangsar.
I had the opportunity to try line dancing for the first time, and it turned out to be an amazing experience. Engaging in line dancing not only introduced me to a new form of dance but also provided valuable cognitive stimulation. The process of learning and following the intricate dance steps in line dancing requires mental focus, coordination, and synchronization with the rhythm. These challenges not only enhance cognitive abilities but also contribute to overall brain health, making line dancing a truly enjoyable and beneficial activity.
During our stay, we were treated to a delicious Nasi Kelabu dinner at the All Day Dining restaurant, where we experienced the culinary delights of the community.
We also enjoyed a relaxing karaoke session, where many talented singers showcased their skills, making it an enjoyable evening filled with nostalgic tunes. Additionally, we had the opportunity to dance in the media room, adding to the fun and lively ambiance.
The following morning, we started the day with a healthy aging breakfast, followed by a rejuvenating yoga session. The dedicated and friendly staff at Domitys Bangsar made our stay truly memorable, ensuring that we felt welcome and well taken care of throughout.
Dedicated and friendly Domitys team.

I highly recommend Domitys Bangsar to active seniors who are seeking an exceptional environment to reside in. The community provides a perfect balance of comfort, engagement, and relaxation, making it an ideal choice for those looking to enjoy their retirement years to the fullest.

One highlight of the visit was the opportunity to tour a mock-up showcase home, which was a commendable initiative by Guangzhou province. The showcase provided valuable insights and inspiration for individuals seeking to modify their homes for their aging parents. It was impressive to see the dedication to creating age-friendly environments.
I was also delighted to learn about the subsidies and financial assistance programs offered by the Chinese government specifically for home modifications. This support is instrumental in helping families make the necessary changes to accommodate the needs of their elderly loved ones.
During the tour, we gathered some helpful tips, such as paying attention to layout and accessibility, ensuring adequate lighting and contrast, and making functional modifications to enhance independence. Safety and fall prevention measures, including grab bars and non-slip flooring, were also emphasized. Additionally, integrating technology and assistive devices can greatly improve comfort and convenience for the elderly.
Layout and Accessibility:
Observe the layout of the home, paying attention to the ease of movement and accessibility for elderly individuals.
Note the placement of key areas such as bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and living spaces to understand how they are optimized for convenience.
Lighting and contrast: Ensure adequate indoor lighting and use contrasting colors to help the elderly identify objects and distinguish hallway boundaries. Install convenient switches and lighting fixtures to make it easier for the elderly to locate and operate them in the dark.
Kitchen renovation: Lower the height of cabinets and countertops to make them more accessible for the elderly. Install safety equipment such as portable fire extinguishers and gas leak detectors.
Functional Modifications:
Examine modifications that enhance the functionality of the home, such as adjustable countertops, easy-to-reach storage, and appliances designed for ease of use.
Pay attention to features that promote independence, such as lever-style faucets, remote-controlled lighting, or automated systems.
Safety and Fall Prevention:
Look for safety features like grab bars, handrails, non-slip flooring, and well-lit areas.
Take note of any modifications made to reduce the risk of falls and ensure overall safety within the home.
Bathroom renovation: Install accessible bathtubs, toilets, and sinks that are designed for easy use by the elderly. Ensure that the bathroom floor is non-slip to minimize the risk of accidents.
Barrier-free design: Ensure wide pathways without obstacles inside and outside the house, and install handrails and non-slip flooring to facilitate the elderly's movement and reduce the risk of falls.
Technology and Assistive Devices:
Take note of the integration of technology, such as home automation systems, emergency call systems, or assistive devices that enhance comfort and convenience.
It is important to remember that these suggestions should be tailored to the specific needs and layout of each home. Consulting with professionals like occupational therapists or interior designers can ensure effective and personalized modifications.
Overall, my visit to the Guangzhou Elderly Care Service Industry Association was enlightening, and I am grateful for the insights gained during the tour of the mock-up showcase home. The warm hospitality and commitment to creating age-friendly environments in China were truly commendable.

]]>Rapid aging will be a crucial megatrend affecting Malaysia in the coming decades.
According to World Bank, going from an aging to aged society in just 24 years, the country’s transition happens at a similar pace to Japan’s and follows the trend of other high-income economies.
In 2020, more than 7 percent of the population will be age 65 and above, meeting the conventional international definition of an “aging society”
By 2044, 14 percent of the population is expected to be above 65 years of age making Malaysia an “aged society”
Come 2056, Malaysia will be a “super-aged society”, with over 20 percent of its population above the age of 65.
As this population ages, the demand for products and services that improve their quality of life will follow. We at iElder.Asia in the healthcare industry would do well to prepare ourselves to receive this demographic with the proper goods and services to meet their needs.
Malaysia is projected to become an aging population by 2030. The combination of declining fertility rates and increasing life expectancy is expected to result in a significant shift in the age structure of the population.
According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia, the proportion of Malaysians aged 60 and above is expected to increase from 9.5% in 2020 to 14.5% in 2030. Furthermore, the number of individuals aged 65 and above is projected to more than double from 2.1 million in 2020 to 4.8 million in 2030.
This demographic shift towards an aging population will have implications for various sectors, including healthcare, social services, pensions, and the labor market. The government and policymakers are aware of these challenges and have been implementing measures to address them, such as developing policies to support active aging, improving healthcare services for the elderly, and encouraging longer workforce participation.
As an ageing nation, a country will normally experience an increase in life expectancy due to better healthcare services and living standards, as well as a decline in the fertility rate.
The patterns of declining fertility rate and expansion in life expectancy have started to become more obvious in Malaysia.
In 2020, Malaysia’s fertility rate declined to 1.7% compared to 2.1% in 2010.
The total population aged 65 years and over is higher at 6.8% of 32.4 million total population, compared to 5% of 27.5 million during the same period.
Malaysia has experienced a rapid demographic change for the past 50 years. The young-age (zero to 14 years) shows a declining trend while the working-age (15 to 64 years) and old-age (65 years and over) indicate the opposite.
Generally, the increase in the working-age population positively implies potential employment supply in the country.
However, a contrasting trend between the young and old-age population suggests that the size of the working-age population will shrink in the long run.
Moreover, further aggravated by the falling birth rates, the country could face difficulties in providing adequate workforce for the labour market, thus impacting the economy.
The increasing dependency of the young-age and old-age population on the working age group is also a concern for Malaysia.

KL Wellness City is a mega project in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, envisioned as a world-class medical and wellness township with a gross development value (GDV) of nearly RM12 billion, a development project spearheaded by KLWC.
The project was conceptualized in response to two growing trends - the growth of medical tourism, and Malaysia's path towards becoming an aging nation. Healthcare in Malaysia was recognised as the top country in the world for healthcare in 2015 to 2021, according to the Global Retirement Index (GRI)
When is the project expected to be completed?
Project development is set to be completed over the course of multiple phases. The first phase will consist of the hospital and The Nobel Healthcare Park, which will be connected via link bridges. The first phase is estimated to be completed by the end of 2024, and both the International Hospital and the Nobel Healthcare Park will open in early 2025.
What is the NOBEL Healthcare Park?
The Nobel Healthcare Park consists of medical, business, wellness & retail suites, and will be directly linked to the International Hospital @ KL Wellness City, the first two buildings to be completed in Phase 1. The International Hospital will begin as a tertiary hospital with 624 beds, scalable to a 1,000-bed capacity.
Located just 300 meters away from Bukit Jalil, Nobel Healthcare Park is surrounded by various recreational destinations, such as Bukit Jalil Recreational Park, Kinrara Golf Course, Bukit Jalil Golf & Country Resort, and a 30-minute drive away from KLIA, making it a great stay and visitation spot for tourists.
How can I invest/purchase a unit under this project?
Currently, Phase 1 is open to registered medical practitioners and medical groups who wish to open their own branch or clinics, or investors and business owners who wish to open a store in the retail floors of Noble Healthcare Park.
The 379 available standard medical and wellness suites come fully furnished, complete with a waiting room, medical dispensary, treatment room, and doctor's office, which give off a luxurious feel match the ambience and atmosphere of the area.
The preview room of the upcoming assisted living suite was just as incredible, a cozy living space for with built in safety features for guests and residents, all within range of medical and private nursing services.

]]>Growing or Working adults have one concern as the years pass and that is their ageing family members. Everyone is looking for a safe and fun environment that they can bring their seniors to so that they can have an invigorating time. Having a good place to do their hobbies or activities would be a wonderful place for the seniors or retirees to hang out and have fun especially with people their age!
For me, I feel immense concern when I see my ageing mother sitting in front of the TV with glazed over eyes, she seemed lifeless. To add on to my concern, no one is at home with her during the day as my kids are out at school and my husband and I would be out working. With no one at home, I am worried about their safety at home because no one would be there to help if an incident occurs. That's when I learned about Harmony Hill Home and their activity program in the daytime!

]]>Located on nearly 50 acres of land in Semenyih, Harmony Hill Home is a peaceful, tranquil, and happy home for the elderly. That was the impression I got when I first arrived at this massive four-story courtyard-style building. Thanks to the funding from Yayasan Sin Chew, Harmony Hill Homes finished its construction last year 2022.
It is an elderly care center that gave me the sense of when I first walk into a temple. To emphasize on what I mean, it gave me a feeling of Zen; A peaceful, harmony feeling. Why? Because the volunteers here at Harmony Hill Home match the overall feel of the place as they dedicate their time and wholeheartedly put themselves in their volunteer work here!
The funding that was provided by Yayasan Sin Chew was generated through a donation drive. I very much appreciate them for building such an amazing care home for the Senior Malaysian Community. After reviewing so many senior care homes in person, I realized how most ones were dull, lifeless and small. In comparison to those lifeless care homes, Harmony Hill Home feels homely and welcoming to all seniors and retirees.
Its double courtyard design provides an efficient built form that allows the residents to circulate freely and enjoy the gardens and views to the surrounding hills. Ageing-in-place principles enable residents of various care levels and support needs to be accommodated in a non-institutional environment.
It has been special to Yayasan Sin Chew because it helps set a new standard for the assisted living industry in Malaysia and contributes a tangible benefit to the community.
Harmony Hill Home's courtyard-style dwelling is located in the suburbs, well-equipped and surrounded by a pleasant, clean and fresh welcoming environment which encourages all their guests to live a quality of life and to take it day by day.
One glance at the directory and I was immediately amazed by how it was arranged. For the first, second, and third floors, there were four living sectors with their own assigned names and colors. This can help the elderly memorize which floor they live on.
To showcase how it works from the image above, these are doors on the first floor! If the elderly is to forget which room they belong to, they merely have to look at the bright red flower next to the large numbers just to remember that they belong to Bunga Kosmos.
The inside of the rooms is just as amazing. I quite like its minimalistic interior design.
It is 2 people per room. Should one person want privacy while in their beds, they can just pull the curtains to separate them from their roommates. First impression, the room is quite spacious and well-lit thanks to its big windows. There is plenty of room for an individual to do their own respective activities too!
Though some rooms are more special than others. This room lacks the wall separating them from the other room, but Harmony Hill Home has a justifiable reason for this design.
They explained to me that the wall was left out because of toilet sharing issues. If one elderly were to occupy the toilet when the other roommate needs it, they can simply head to the other side of the room and use their toilet without having to go out and knock on their door to ask.
Speaking of bathrooms, they had installed motion sensor lights near the entrance in the event that the elderly has to use the bathroom in the dark. It could come in handy especially if they do not want to turn on the lights and disturb someone else's rest.
Just outside the bedrooms, there is a common room meant for the floor's tenants to hang out at. It was newly furnished so not much entertainment had been placed in, but it looked to be a great place to hang out in especially with all the open atmosphere in the room.
There is a common room furnished with a TV and armchairs available on every floor. If the tenants desire to hang out on their own floor, they are more than welcome too without having to go all the way down to the common area!
On the ground floor, I realized they offer more spaces for the seniors to hang out and do their activities at. There is even an over-the-counter preparation corner for them to prepare some simple meals at!
I even had a look at their kitchens, and it was clean and spotless, ready for the chefs of Harmony Hill Homes usage to prepare healthy plant-based meals for the seniors. To ensure they consume plenty of nutrients for their body!
With all these wonderful facilities I got to experience at Harmony Hill Home, I have not even gotten to the wide range of activities they have prepared for the elderly.
They don't leave the elderly to their own vices as the staff of Harmony Hill Home provides full day care plus recreational facilities for seniors. The philosophy of Harmony Hill Home to ensure our guests live a contented psychologically sound life.
Read more on Harmony Hill Home's wide range of activities will be shared here! You won't want to miss out on how many mind-stimulating activities they have for their retirees and seniors. You can visit their website and explore more of their activities over on their website, here!

]]>I was on a recent business trip to Penang to visit the Penang Retirement Resort (PRR), a serene hillside resort meant for the retirees to live a life of comfort whether independently or with assistance. It is located at the Penang Turf Club.
I was excited to see this new project in Penang because they have a very different senior living concept where there are two types of care facilities. Independent living units has a total of 77 rooms whereas Assisted care units have a total of 49 rooms.
There are various layouts and styles available to customize your unit, from single rooms to shared rooms. All details of my trip will be listed below, so keep reading for more.
Upon reaching this place, I felt like it is a very cozy place to retire in. A feel-good location with fresh air constantly being circulated throughout the place thanks to the gentle breeze.
Penang Retirement Resort's concept is to have a homelike facility that will enable retiree living an independent life while getting all the assistance they need. That is the concept I got to experience and understand during my trip.
At most senior projects I've seen, they would first build the independent living facilities first before assisted living, but these two facilities were built at the same time here.
For the site tour, we started off with the assisted living facilities. The concept of assisted living is that it utilizes a hospital bed and a lot of the hospital's features, but with a touch of PRR's flair to it as it gives off more of a hotel style feel.
There are 49 units of individual rooms for assisted living. Before entering the apartment room, they have a space outside where the tenants can set up plants to give their room their own touch! It is quite a different concept.
It even has an entirely different layout compared to independent living as shown below. For assisted living, they have doctors, nurses, and caregivers at the ready just in case if the tenant needs anything or requires medical attention.
Listed below is the brochure for assisted living, detailing all the services they'd provide and the add-on personalized package!
Moving on to the independent living facilities, they have 77 units with the option to live by yourself or with someone else. The price for independent living for a single person starts from RM7600 per month, but to bring on an additional person is an additional RM4000. If you sign up for 3 years at the Penang Retirement Resort, they will waive the additional person's charges.
The rooms for independent living are so much larger! It felt just like an average apartment home to me when I walked in there. It had a lounge with the dining room in view and the bedroom is furnished with an electric adjustable bed that fits with their interior beautifully.
Listed Below is the brochure for Independent Living at Penang Retirement Resort. Who could say no to all these added on luxuries to your stay here?
Depending on the room you choose, the layout will vary! For Independent Living, they have a total of three types of Self Care Accommodations and a 2 Bedroom Accommodation.
On top of all these wonderful living facilities, PRR also has a number of facilities for their tenants' leisure such as a spa, a physiotherapy and fitness center, hair salon, nail parlor, golf course, games room, and so much more entertainment. In my opinion, I'd never get bored here with all these amenities.
Penang Retirement Resort's concept of independent and assisted living is amazing for the elderly, because there are many adults living and working abroad while their parents are living alone here. This concept of living is suitable for the elderly who needs company or friends to surround them to prevent them from getting lonely or stuck in a life of repetitiveness at home. This is the perfect place for them.
Ageing in place doesn't mean that you have to do it at home. It can be done anywhere as long as we do it in comfort or wherever we feel safe. Get a head start now and check out the quality aged care products we offer here at iElder.asia.

iElder.asia opened a new outlet in KPJ Tawakkal Healthcare centre in March 2022, bringing Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Acupuncture therapy to patients in the healthcare center as a complementary form of therapy, especially for the elderly undergoing stroke and dialysis treatments.
TCM has been used for thousands of years to treat a variety of health conditions, and is especially effective for elderly patients who may not be able to tolerate or benefit from Western medicine. It is a holistic approach that considers the patient's physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, and is therefore particularly suited to the aging population.
By offering TCM and Acupuncture, iElder is helping to bridge the gap between traditional medicine and modern technology, providing seniors with a comprehensive approach to managing their health. This is particularly important in a healthcare setting, where patients often have multiple chronic conditions that require ongoing care and management.
iElder.asia focuses on geriatric and home care and is committed to the concept of "aging in place", with products designed to enable seniors to live independently and safely in their own homes, rather than being forced into institutional care.
In addition to the new outlet, iElder offers a wide range of products online, from mobility aids to home safety equipment, to help seniors maintain their independence and safety at home. iElder provides personalized guidance and consultation to each customer, recognizing that each patient is unique and has individual needs. With a range of medical devices, the company's mission is to enhance the quality of life of seniors, by providing them with the tools they need to manage their health and wellness.

MCOA delegates from left to right: En Hamdan Adnan, Mr AC Lam, Olivia Quah, Mdm Lily Fu, Mr Perumal, Mr Cheah Tuck Wing
We enjoyed a leisure visit to Pusat Ikan Hiasan Port Dickson.
MCOA delegates together with the Millennia Village's founder, Ms Susan Ho and General Manager Allen.
It is a retirement home which is purpose built for the Golden Age.
Nestled in a private enclave amidst a 32-acre integrated development, Millennia Village spans over 8 acres of prime land that also features a natural pond and a view of a beautiful, rugged granite rock face.
Millenia Village is a project consisting of commercial building lots which are divided into 2 blocks, both with their own set of car parks and support facilities. Block A has 168 rooms, a one-storey car park; Block B with 176 rooms, a three-storey car park, and a half-storey podium block, also with support facilities and a substation.
This project is expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2023. This project is designed by an Australian architect.
I like the heart-shaped roof top in between the two buildings. It shows the love and care that is put into this place. Another thing I appreciate about this garden is the windy fresh air that circulates here.
This garden in the center of the whole compound truly follows the Hakka concept where everyone can commune. It also adds a touch of forestry amidst the modernity of the Millennia Village, bringing you a sense of peace and calm while I enjoyed my time there.
What further attracted me the most to Millennia Village is the Urban Farming and Herb Garden. There is also a jungle trekking route designed by the natives of Seremban.
The safety and security feature of this place is top notch with a panic button placed in each room. They even had emergency responders as staff members, any senior who lives in this retirement village is going to receive the utmost care.
Millennia Village's lease rental model takes away the hassle for seniors of managing their own property with 3 years plus 3 years lease term.

For facilities in Millennia Village, you name it they have it.
In fact, for a retirement village, it is important to have activities that can cater for their residents' lifestyle. From artistic pursuits to recreational activities, at Millennia Village, their Programme Director will curate a list of choices for everyday moments such as:
For location wise, this place is in the heart of everything essential. It is only a 10 min walk from town, making sure its residents are closer to the banks, shopping malls, and hospitals. A shuttle bus service is also available in this village.
I think it will attract lots of Singaporean seniors as I feel like they would enjoy this life of leisure in this environment compared to a bustling city.
From this trip, I can sense that this retirement village is just like Club Med who caters for seniors, ideally 55 years old to 75 years old. While speaking with Madam Susan Ho, one of the founders of Millennia Village who showed us around the whole facility, I really can feel her passion and dedication to build an age-friendly living space, which not only cater to market needs but also for her own self. Thus, this village will be ideal for senior living in this journey called life. It is in line with the tagline: Precious Moments for your Life's Journey.

Members of the Coalition, through their commitment and expertise have been working together and collectively, have come out with some salient recommendations that they believe would change the landscape of aged care and the benefits to senior citizens of Malaysia for the better. Collectively, they urge the relevant authority and government to consider the following main issues to be addressed as a matter of priority.

From left to right: Muntoh from Komune Care/ National Secretary AGECOPE, Olivia from iElder/ Assist National Secretary AGECOPE, Ms Tan from Cherish Care, Delren from Loving Care/ National President AGECOPE, Rajan and Anu from Takahashi Legend Care and Michelle from Zuellig.
The AGECOPE National Secretary & Komune Care General Manager, Muntoh Fong, invited the members of AGECOPE Selangor & Kuala Lumpur to site visit Komune Living and Wellness. Here at Komune they offer various Senior Care with customised care options which help ensure that your loved ones receive the best care! Whether it’s for independent living or senior daycare for our elderly parents.
It is strategically located in Kuala Lumpur City Centre. This enables working adults, who have careers in KL City, to be able to send their parents for daycare before adjourning to their work!
One of the main attractions of the Komune that got my attention is that it is nestled next to a lush 99-acre park in Taman Tasik Permaisuri, Cheras. From my brief time at this park, I felt like it is a place of reflection, rejuvenation and renewal of the mind, body, and soul.
I adored the view that the Komune’s open deck had of the park. The view overlooked a lush, green park and it was quite literally a breath of fresh air. If I were to stay here, I’d take a brisk morning walk every day and spend a half hour taking in the fresh morning air.
Asides from the park, I realised that the Komune had more facilities than I had predicted. It was designed with the wellness and community in mind, offering a wide rage of facilities that will complete any stay!
For food, I found that Lucky Lucky Foodstore is the anchor of the F&B (Food & Beverage) establishment in Komune Living & Wellness. It is home to 12 food concepts and offers a remarkable comfort fare through a variety of popular cuisine.
Whether you're craving Hainanese chicken rice or Mexican tacos, this is the destination to dine on comforting and delectable meals to satisfy your cravings while overlooking the lush, greenery of the park. To top it off, it’s also a recommended place to dine with your family members as their options are endless.
Prevention is better than cure!
Here at Komune, they provide a one stop centre which consists of a Traditional Chinese Medicine named Tong Xin Tang, with their focus on health and wellness to help you feel energized and healthy! Other than TCM Center, Komune also has DBC Physiotherapy Centre, UMH Spa & Wellness, UMH Medical Clinic, UMH Dental and Confinement Centre, Cutie Cottage Baby & Child Care Centre. They basically have every known healthcare facility under one roof!
Komune Care offers the largest Senior Daycare in Malaysia with 260 Brand New Assisted Living Suites within Komune Living & Wellness. With everything from senior care facilities to services, engaging community events, group activities, exclusive tech platform, medical and wellness center.
As explained to us, Komune Care conducts the Montessori-inspired approach for ageing and early dementia. Rather than defining all people with dementia as having one set of needs and abilities (and disabilities), the Montessori Method recognizes each one as unique. An overview of the Montessori approach, there is an emphasis on independence, freedom within limits, and respect for that person's psychological, physical, and social development!
Let’s also talk about basketball hoop! Komune Care had it set up so that wheelchair-bound tenants can easily play sports. Talk about being considerate!
Moving on to their community facilities! It consists of:
In my opinion, one of the best facilities in Komune Care has to be the Communal Kitchen, where you can bring, store, and cook your own food here! They even have a dining are for you to dine with the others. This area is suitable for those who like cooking!
So, cook up a storm in this fully-equipped shared kitchen – The perfect place to gather and have a wholesome meal with your family or friends if you desire a home cooked meal.
Let's check out their bedroom for senior care next!
Below image is a shared area for their relaxation.
With a minimalistic look, their rooms are built with every necessity an elderly could need along with a nursing station located right outside the rooms. In addition, there’s even a water cooler just in case the tenants get parched in the middle of the night.
Their charges are quite similar to Air Asia’s package concept. They have the options of two types of single room or a couple room. You can choose a room, care package, etc… and they will total the sum of it after the month ends.
Komune Care centre will be launching a purposed design dementia floor.
Included with the medical facilities is DBC Physiotherapy which is an outpatient physiotherapy treatment provider that uses evidence-based protocols and Finnish Active Reconditioning technology.
They assist leading treatment providers and payers in delivering excellence in physiotherapy and musculoskeletal rehabilitation by providing effective, efficient, and economical solutions. Mr Siva from the DBC Physiotherapy is also our AGECOPE member!
To conclude my trip here at Komune Living & Wellness, it is a balanced community with the mix of nature and modernity. It is located in a really good location like KLCC where some busy adults can easily drop off their parents here for a fun day. It’s facilities come well-equipped and could easily meet the needs of everyone.
What really caught my attention at the end of the trip is that they had a whole special floor that is catered towards patients with dementia. It shows that they really thought it through and have taken their future patients conditions into deep consideration.
AGECOPE is an NGO with an objective to establish a national network for the operators of aged care facilities and services to coordinate, collaborate and share the resources, expertise and good practices towards quality aged care. If you know any care center, old folks' home, or retirement home, please share AGECOPE membership link with them.
CSR programme is by iElder below. If you are a nursing home/old folks home/ care center operator, please feel free to get this FREE bed bug spray.
We have been receiving our customers' enquiry about a list of nursing homes and home nursing companies. We took the initiative to compile several listings into our directory.
One sunny Friday morning on 6 January 2023, iElder representative Olivia Quah and our business partner Ms Lim from Upstairs paid a visit to Socso Rehabilitation Centre in Melaka Malaysia.
When I reached this world class rehabilitation centre, I was impressed with its architectural design and found that the facilities have ensured easy access and safety for its patients. Moreover, I felt peaceful and calm when looking at the plants and I believe this will help speed up the recovery of patients.
I would like to ask a question to iElder customers: Do you know SOCIAL Security Organisation (SOCSO) members are eligible for world class rehabilitation treatment in Malaysia? Perhaps many are still unaware of this facility. In fact, treatment is available for free at the Tun Abdul Razak Rehabilitation Centre (TRRC) in Bandar Hijau, Melaka. The centre, which is equipped with the latest high-tech equipment and supported by professional staff, provides a full rehabilitation treatment program under one roof.
The facility includes physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, occupational therapy, return to work and vocational training, and a Neuro-Robotics Rehabilitation and Cybernics Centre.
This is a common area where patients get their daily exercise.
The first step prior to starting rehabilitation is to get an assessment from Sensory Centre in the first two weeks. Examples include videostagmography (VNG), audiology, hearing test, visual testing and optometry.
Hydrotherapy training session at the aquatic centre, which can help improve muscle strength and help with pain management.
Social Security Organization (SOCSO), in collaboration with Cyberdyne Inc. Japan, have successfully established the first Neuro-Robotics Rehabilitation & Cybernics Centre in Malaysia at SOCSO Tun Razak Rehabilitation Centre, Melaka. This centre is equipped with HAL® (Hybrid Assistive Limb) Robot Suit, the latest neurorobotic technology equipment from Cyberdyne Inc. Japan.
Apart from that, TRRC also provides vocational rehabilitation programs to ensure participants have the skills required to be independent after completing their training.
Many other programs are also available in sewing, baking and culinary arts, electrical and electronics, graphic design, handicraft, hairdressing, tailoring, office management and computer skills.
After the participants have finished their treatment and training, SOCSO also helps them to look for jobs through its Return To Work (RTW) programme.

In addition to the SOCSO Tun Abdul Razak Rehabilitation Center, there are four other satellite centers, which are at Fit-Port Tanjung Pelepas, Kuala Terengganu, Ara Damansara and Quill City Mall Kuala Lumpur.

]]>When I read The Edge's article : "Third Age: A lifelong learner and persistent entrepreneur" dated Nov 23, 2019, I was inspired by Mdm Siew Yin Leng, former nurse, Founder of GreenAcres and Co-Founder of Total Investment Group engaged Australian architecture firm Marchese Partners. In her travels overseas, she often admired the retirement villages that offer quality alternative lifestyles for retirees. Since the concept of retirement villages are considered relatively new in Malaysia, Mdm Siew had to be involved in the master planning, site analysis and concept design of GreenAcres from the ground up. The developer and local architect, S. N. Low & Associates, contributed the local input to ensure that the product suits Malaysians and fulfilled all the local building requirements.
James Pany, General Manager of GreenAcres and Ms Ng Siew Leng, Senior Lifestyle Consultant brought us for a site tour at Green Acres Retirement Village during our vocation journey to Penang on 21 December 2022.
Driving to Green Acres Retirement Village at Meru, Ipoh, Malaysia
Sprawled across a 13-acre site, the gated and guarded project will offer 177 units for independent living—single-storey landed villas and a low-rise four storey apartment block. A three-acre site is reserved for a future aged-care facility, which will provide residential and healthcare services for individuals requiring more advanced care.
Currently, there have 55 units being occupied with 5 units left. 18 new units will be launched in 2023 together with 120 beds aged-care facility. 90% local Malaysians from Ipoh, KL and many cities in Malaysia, 10% are foreigners including Hong Kong, Canada, Scotland and many other countries.
A club house with full facilities. A clinic Klinik De Era is available by appointment. If hospitalization is required, there are several hospitals located within a 10-15 minutes drive:
If residents feel like eating out instead of cooking at home, they always can enjoy authentic Chinese food at the GreenField Restaurant. It is also open for outside visitors.
Moving into retirement village brings all these amenities to your doorstep. Clubhouse indoor facilities include a multi-purpose hall, fitness center, mini cinema, hairdresser, games room, karaoke room, library/reading room, wellness center, cafe lounge, dining room, fitness center, a TV lounge, and even an exclusive billiard room. As a senior, you can stay socially connected and physically active, and make the most of all the facilities available at the village.
A shuttle van is also available for residents, and daily activities are well planned by the Green Acres staff.
Every home has wider doorways, step-free bathrooms with grab bars and a 24-hour emergency call system. Residents will have priority entry to an upcoming aged care facility on site.
Every individual unit comes with fitted kitchen cabinets, built in wardrobes, storage cupboards, air conditioners, water heater, LED lighting and anti-insect screen, making the transition into your new homes as hassle-free as possible. All you need is to bring some loose furniture like a dining table, sofa, clothes and other soft furnishing to this new home.
All units are on a leasing arrangement as per chart above (subject to change). Fee includes 1% deduction from lease deposit per year and monthly maintenance charges include sinking fund.
If you are unsure whether this retirement village is suitable for you, you can sign up for a 4-day, 3-night short stay to explore the premises, with a price range of RM600 for single bedroom villa to RM900 for a 2-bedroom villa. Guests must be 50 years old and above and must be fully vaccinated.
Green Acres Retirement village living fits the needs of both parents and children. For the parents, it is a place where they enjoy their freedom, yet have the peace of mind that support services are nearby. For the children, they rest assured knowing that their parents' needs are well taken care of, and that they are in an environment which promotes their social, mental and physical well-being.
Most seniors who have owned house and found it too big for own usage. They are happy with downsizing and prefer to sell existing home and move to Green Acres well planned interiors.
It is really a great place for seniors to make new friends here. Most residents' children are overseas, and the seniors prefer to stay in Malaysia. Thus, they choose to stay in this place with safety and security features available.
During my trip to Green Acres Retirement Village, I found myself in love with the companionship, social, intellectual and physical activities offered to residents. It is a community of independent people enjoying life.

You're invited to attend the MOU Signing between ACT4Health and iElder.asia!
As we and our loved ones age, we grow vulnerable to life-changing health complications, such as a stoke or dementia.
In most cases, we find ourselves caught unprepared for such a scenario, and struggle to adapt with the circumstances, wishing we had more time to learn and prepare.
iElder.asia and ACT4Health will be signing a MOU during the SIBS EXPO in KLCC, to provide elderly assessment services and assement training to caretakers in Malaysia, which will enable elderlies to detect health complications before they turn serious, allowing families to prepare themselves way ahead of time.
We at iElder.Asia and ACT4Health in the healthcare industry would do well to prepare ourselves to receive this demographic with the proper goods and services to meet their needs.
MEDIA RELEASE: iElder.Asia signs MOU with ACT4Health
Kuala Lumpur, 7 October 2022 – ACT4Health and Asian Integrated Medical Sdn Bhd (AIM Healthcare) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer elderly health assessment services for Malaysian seniors and training programmes for geriatric caretakers across Malaysia.
ACT4Health, a spin-off company under the University of Malaya, provides training and health assessments based on independent research evidence. Set up by the Ageing and Age-Associated Disorders Research Group and led by one of the leading professors in University of Malaya’s Faculty of Medicine - Prof. Dr. Tan Maw Pin, ACT4Health seeks to improve healthcare for older persons in Malaysia and Southeast Asia through training, consultancy, research and health promotion.
The MoU is a cohesive effort by both organisations to provide accessibility to upscaling in skill for local caretakers caring for the elderly, and to raise the level and quality of geriatric healthcare within Malaysia. The goal is to improve the current state of geriatric care in Malaysia until we stand on par with some of the current world leaders such as Japan, Sweden, and Norway. ACT4Health will work closely with iElder.Asia (a subsidiary of AIM Healthcare) to outreach to and provide professional training opportunities to caretakers, in an effort to increase the number of reliable elderly assessment services available across Malaysia, whilst studying and sharing data to improve the level of services provided by both parties.
