The AGECOPE National Secretary & Komune Care General Manager, Muntoh Fong, invited the members of AGECOPE Selangor & Kuala Lumpur to site visit Komune Living and Wellness. Here at Komune they offer various Senior Care with customised care options which help ensure that your loved ones receive the best care! Whether it’s for independent living or senior daycare for our elderly parents.

It is strategically located in Kuala Lumpur City Centre. This enables working adults, who have careers in KL City, to be able to send their parents for daycare before adjourning to their work!

One of the main attractions of the Komune that got my attention is that it is nestled next to a lush 99-acre park in Taman Tasik Permaisuri, Cheras. From my brief time at this park, I felt like it is a place of reflection, rejuvenation and renewal of the mind, body, and soul. 

I adored the view that the Komune’s open deck had of the park. The view overlooked a lush, green park and it was quite literally a breath of fresh air. If I were to stay here, I’d take a brisk morning walk every day and spend a half hour taking in the fresh morning air.

Asides from the park, I realised that the Komune had more facilities than I had predicted. It was designed with the wellness and community in mind, offering a wide rage of facilities that will complete any stay!

For food, I found that Lucky Lucky Foodstore is the anchor of the F&B (Food & Beverage) establishment in Komune Living & Wellness. It is home to 12 food concepts and offers a remarkable comfort fare through a variety of popular cuisine.

Whether you're craving Hainanese chicken rice or Mexican tacos, this is the destination to dine on comforting and delectable meals to satisfy your cravings while overlooking the lush, greenery of the park. To top it off, it’s also a recommended place to dine with your family members as their options are endless.

Here at Komune, they provide a one stop centre which consists of a Traditional Chinese Medicine named Tong Xin Tang, with their focus on health and wellness to help you feel energized and healthy! Other than TCM Center, Komune also has DBC Physiotherapy Centre, UMH Spa & Wellness, UMH Medical Clinic, UMH Dental and Confinement Centre, Cutie Cottage Baby & Child Care Centre. As explained to us, Komune Care conducts the Montessori-inspired approach for ageing and early dementia. In my opinion, one of the best facilities in Komune Care has to be the Communal Kitchen, where you can bring, store, and cook your own food here! They even have a dining are for you to dine with the others. This area is suitable for those who like cooking!

So, cook up a storm in this fully-equipped shared kitchen – The perfect place to gather and have a wholesome meal with your family or friends if you desire a home cooked meal.

With a minimalistic look, their rooms are built with every necessity an elderly could need along with a nursing station located right outside the rooms. In addition, there’s even a water cooler just in case the tenants get parched in the middle of the night. 

Their charges are quite similar to Air Asia’s package concept. They have the options of two types of single room or a couple room. You can choose a room, care package, etc… and they will total the sum of it after the month ends.

Komune Care centre will be launching a purposed design dementia floor. 

Included with the medical facilities is DBC Physiotherapy which is an outpatient physiotherapy treatment provider that uses evidence-based protocols and Finnish Active Reconditioning technology. 

They assist leading treatment providers and payers in delivering excellence in physiotherapy and musculoskeletal rehabilitation by providing effective, efficient, and economical solutions. Mr Siva from the DBC Physiotherapy is also our AGECOPE member!

To conclude my trip here at Komune Living & Wellness, it is a balanced community with the mix of nature and modernity. It is located in a really good location like KLCC where some busy adults can easily drop off their parents here for a fun day. It’s facilities come well-equipped and could easily meet the needs of everyone. 

What really caught my attention at the end of the trip is that they had a whole special floor that is catered towards patients with dementia. It shows that they really thought it through and have taken their future patients conditions into deep consideration.
