What makes Mala tick at 70

What makes Mala tick at 70

To Mala, 70 is the new 50. Age after all is just a number. Recently Mala just celebrated her 70th birthday with her family and we at iElder.asia asked her the secret to being young at heart, healthy, and energetic. To this she replied –

“Everyone ages differently and as we all age, to me lifestyle plays a major role in helping to maintain my senses. I believe in positive aging as one of the best ways to stay healthy and happy physically, mentally, and socially. Growing old positively is not about how well you can avoid the unavoidable pitfalls of aging, but rather about how well you can focus on making the later years of life worthwhile. That’s my mantra. Having a good and balanced quality of life as we age. So, some important points to note that kept me positive and motivated.

  • Carrying out tasks that gives my brain a workout is vital to keeping my brain sharp, alert, and active. It`s never too old to learn something new.
  • Exercising regularly has been my proven ‘power’ all thru my life and having been an athlete and staying active is important. It has helped me in increasing my mobility and balance, my outlook towards life and my productivity and health as I age.
  • Along with regular exercise, staying social with friends and family had the most impact on my health as I aged knowing there was an array of people, I could turn to for company and support. Just remember - good friends are an essential part of our “anti-aging kit”. There`s no end to connecting with people and you just must find ways to do so.
