[HRDCorp Online Presentation] Olivia Speaks at Senior Back in Action (SEBA) Sharing Session January 2024

On January 31, 2024, between 11:00 am and 12:30 pm, a noteworthy project sharing session was conducted by SEBA (Seniors Back in Action), organized by the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp). The session featured distinguished speakers, including Cheah Tuck Wing, Chairman of the Malaysian Coalition on Ageing (MCOA); Hamdan Adnan, President of the University of the 3rd Age; Delren Douglas Terrance, National President of Residential Age Care Operators (AGECOPE); and Olivia Quah, Secretary of MCOA & NCAS, Vice Chairman of AGECOPE  and Co-Founder of iElder. This event provided valuable insights and perspectives on various aspects of seniors' engagement and participation.

Mr. Cheah Tuck Wing, the President of MCOA delivered an insightful presentation on the crucial topic of Retirement & Lifelong Employability of Older Workers. With a wealth of experience and expertise, Mr. Cheah emphasized the importance of recognizing the valuable contributions that older workers bring to the workforce. During the event, En. Hamdan Adnan, the President of U3A Malaysia, captivated the audience with an insightful presentation on the theme of "Lifelong Learning for Seniors." With wisdom and enthusiasm, Mr. Adnan underscored the significance of continuous education for seniors, emphasizing that learning should be a lifelong pursuit regardless of age. Following that, Mr. Delren Douglas Terrance, the President of AGECOPE, took the stage to share valuable insights on "Training and Opportunities in the Aged Care Industry." With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Mr. Terrance delved into the crucial aspects of preparing individuals for roles within the aged care sector. He emphasized the growing demand for skilled professionals in this industry and discussed various training programs and opportunities available. Mr. Terrance's presentation not only highlighted the importance of fostering a skilled workforce for the aging population but also provided a roadmap for those seeking meaningful careers in the aged care sector. Olivia Quah, Vice Chairman of AGECOPE and Secretary to MCOA and NCAS, offered valuable insights during her presentation on "How to Turn Your Hobbies into Entrepreneurship." Ms. Quah highlighted the unique advantages that older entrepreneurs can leverage compared to their younger counterparts. These include more developed networks, extensive work and industry experience, elevated technical and managerial skills, and a stronger financial position. She emphasized the multitude of benefits that come with pursuing entrepreneurship in later stages of life, such as achieving financial independence, staying mentally and physically active, pursuing passion and creativity, and contributing meaningfully to the community. Ms. Quah's session not only encouraged individuals to explore entrepreneurial endeavors based on their hobbies but also underscored the positive impact such ventures can have on personal well-being and community engagement for seniors.
