When iElder learned from Dr. Ann Wong from Hong Kong about how game and toy activities specially designed for seniors are being used there and how these activities help seniors develop fine motor skills and cognitive abilities, they were inspired to share this effective approach. Many caregivers and active seniors who master these techniques can volunteer to train other seniors in need of such training.

During Dr. Ann Wong's visit to Malaysia at the end of August, we are pleased to invite her to share with Malaysians how to use games and toys to stimulate the cognitive abilities and fine motor skills of the elderly.

Limited seats are available.

Date: 29 August 2024 Thursday
Time: 2-4pm
Venue: iElder SS2
No 37, Jalan SS2/66,
47300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.

Course Objectives:
1. Elder toys are specially designed gaming tools for the elderly. They help seniors exercise their wrists and waist and have training functions suitable for both hand and brain activities. These toys can prevent physical and mental diseases, delay the symptoms of degeneration, and promote social interaction during gameplay, benefiting their psychological and emotional development.

2. Additionally, psychologists believe that facing the rapidly changing social landscape, seniors tend to experience a return to a childlike curiosity about new things. Thus, toys can meet their spiritual needs. By using different types of games and toys, we can meet the physical, mental, and emotional needs of seniors, improving their quality of life.

Training Program Curriculum:
Improve and meet the physical, mental, and spiritual health of seniors through games and toys

  4. High adaptability of toy applications-Adjust the difficulty of gameplay based on seniors' interests and abilities
  5. Activities will be conducted in a relaxed and fun manner

    • Games

Tips for Choosing Toys:
In addition to considering function and theme, the material of the toy is also a factor. Studies have shown that the texture of wood feels warm and soothing. The natural and warm texture of wood can help the elderly relax and calm their emotions. Wooden toys can exercise tactile and olfactory senses and have a certain weight, which helps train hand muscles during play and delay degeneration. Therefore, wooden toys are more beneficial to the elderly compared to other toys.

Course Benefits:

  • Toys match the abilities and life experiences of the elderly.
  • High adaptability of toy applications.
  • Choose toys based on the interests and abilities of the elderly.
  • Adjust the difficulty of the gameplay.
  • Activities will be conducted in a relaxed and fun manner.
