iElder and Managedcare's Afternoon Tea Event for Seniors Aloud: Empowering Seniors Living Alone

iElder and Managedcare's Afternoon Tea Event for Seniors Aloud: Empowering Seniors Living Alone

On April 19, 2024, iElder and Managedcare, in collaboration with Seniors Aloud, hosted a dynamic afternoon tea event at iElder SS2 in Petaling Jaya. This event, focused on "Caring for Seniors Living Alone," aimed to address the challenges faced by elderly individuals in our community and explore proactive solutions to ensure their safety and well-being.

The event, held from 2 pm to 3:30 pm, brought together members of the community who share a commitment to advocating for the welfare of seniors.

The afternoon kicked off with opening remarks by Olivia Quah, Co-Founder of iElder, who shared insights into the organization's mission and upcoming initiatives, including the establishment of a new integrative medicine center for seniors in USJ.

Lily Fu, Founder of SeniorsAloud, then welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of identifying signs of potential distress among seniors living alone. She shared valuable insights into how the SeniorsAloud community currently operates and set the stage for exploring ways to offer assistance and support to seniors in need.

A highlight of the event was a special presentation by Chin Tiong, Founder of Blissfull Life, who showcased best practices from Singapore on supporting seniors living alone through innovative applications. CT's insights into establishing a network of responders resonated with attendees, sparking discussions on how similar strategies could be implemented in our local community.

The Red Cross in Singapore extensively utilizes the Blissfull Elderly Monitoring system to support seniors living independently.

Asma, representing Managedcare, introduced the Customer Careline Support service offered by Managedcare. This service is now accessible within the Klang Valley region, operating from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 5 pm.

The Customer Careline Support facilitates inquiries related to a range of care services, including home care, care assessment, physiotherapy, Vitality Hub services, concierge service, and other related services. Leveraging the Blissfull Life system, Managedcare's Customer Service team can provide enhanced health assistance and support by gathering comprehensive information.

It's important to note that the Customer Careline Support is not intended for emergency responses. Upon reaching out, individuals can expect a call from Managedcare's dedicated customer care support team, who will offer detailed information and assistance regarding the available services.

The event also featured a lucky draw, with Doreen winning a blood pressure monitor as the lucky recipient.

Olivia Quah expressed her appreciation by presenting a token of gratitude to Lily Fu on behalf of Seniors Aloud, further highlighting the spirit of collaboration and mutual support among organizations dedicated to senior care.

As attendees mingled over afternoon tea, conversations flowed freely, and connections were forged, underscoring the collective commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of seniors in our community.

In conclusion, iElder and Managedcare's Afternoon Tea event served as a catalyst for meaningful dialogue and action-oriented discussions, reinforcing the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing the needs of seniors living alone. Together, we can continue to champion the well-being of our elderly neighbors and create a more supportive and inclusive community for all.
