马中贸易: 癌症能防治, 多多爱自己

"Today, cancer has become a very common chronic disease."
Modern lifestyles involving fatigue, stress, and unhealthy habits can weaken the immune system, making people more susceptible to illness.
Cancer develops in a similar way. Cancer cells can appear in everyone's body, but under normal circumstances they are eliminated or suppressed by the immune system's natural killer (NK) cells. When people are overworked and under stress, immunity decreases, the body's defenses weaken, and the risk of cancer cell growth increases.
Because cancer has become increasingly common, everyone should learn basic knowledge about cancer prevention and treatment.
Dr. Kong Why Hong, a family physician and TCM oncology specialist, emphasizes that prevention is better than treatment. Before cancer occurs, people should take preventive measures. If cancer does occur, they should actively seek appropriate treatment as early as possible.
According to Dr. Kong, modern medicine has made significant advances. In addition to surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, treatments now include:
- Targeted therapy
- Hormone therapy
- Immunotherapy
Targeted therapies can attack cancer cells more precisely while causing less damage to normal cells, reducing side effects. Radiotherapy equipment has also improved, allowing treatment to be delivered more accurately and minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues.
Regarding Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Dr. Kong notes that although tumors have been described in Chinese medical texts for thousands of years, modern TCM is generally used as a complementary treatment alongside conventional medical care, helping to improve patients' quality of life and manage symptoms.
