Who invented the wheelchair?
source:wikipedia.org
The first known wheelchair was invented by a man named Stephen Farfler in 1655. Farfler, who was a paraplegic, designed and built the chair for his own use. His design consisted of a three-wheeled chair with hand-cranks for propulsion, and was one of the first self-propelled wheelchairs in history.
Since Farfler's time, many other inventors and companies have contributed to the development of the wheelchair, creating a wide range of designs and features to meet the needs of people with mobility impairments. Some of the key advancements in wheelchair design include the use of lightweight materials, the introduction of power assist options, and the development of specialized chairs for sports and other activities.
Today, wheelchairs are an essential tool for many people with mobility impairments, and continue to be refined and improved to provide greater comfort, functionality, and independence.
