A Milestone Moment for Elder Care in Malaysia
On Saturday, 24 May 2025, iElder had the privilege of participating in the Living Your Golden Years: Reaching Out, Touching Lives Conference — a meaningful gathering of healthcare professionals, caregivers, and advocates dedicated to improving the quality of life for our elderly community.
The event was held at Level 2, Tun Tan Cheng Lock Nursing College, Assunta Hospital, Petaling Jaya — a fitting venue that embodies the spirit of compassionate, professional care.
Introducing Daisy: The Robot Caregiver
The highlight of iElder's showcase was Daisy, our robot caregiver — a groundbreaking solution designed to address one of the most pressing challenges in elder care today: the shortage of caregivers in nursing homes and care facilities.
Daisy is not just a robot — she is a companion, an activity facilitator, and a support system for both residents and the caregiving team. Here's a closer look at what Daisy can do:
🚴 1. Guided Exercise Sessions
Daisy leads residents through gentle physical activities such as cycling exercises. She stands in front of the group, demonstrating movements and encouraging residents to follow along — making exercise approachable, fun, and consistent.
🎵 2. Sing-Along Sessions
Music has a powerful effect on memory and mood, especially for the elderly. Daisy facilitates interactive sing-along sessions, singing residents' favourite songs while lyrics are displayed on a screen behind her — creating a joyful, communal experience that uplifts the spirit.
🎲 3. Cognitive Games
Keeping the mind sharp is just as important as physical health. Daisy conducts engaging games such as bingo and number-matching activities. She announces numbers aloud while they appear on the screen, and residents match them on their own cards — a stimulating activity that promotes focus, memory, and social interaction.
Why This Matters
The caregiver shortage is a real and growing concern across Malaysia and the wider region. Daisy is designed to complement — not replace — human caregivers, giving them more capacity to focus on personalised, hands-on care while Daisy supports group activities and resident engagement.
By keeping elderly residents active, entertained, and socially connected, Daisy contributes to better overall wellbeing and a higher quality of life within care facilities.
Looking Ahead
iElder remains committed to bringing innovative, dignified, and practical solutions to the elder care space in Malaysia. Our participation in the TAMA Conference 2025 is a reflection of that mission — and Daisy is just the beginning.
If you are a nursing home operator, healthcare professional, or caregiver interested in learning more about Daisy or our range of elder care solutions, we'd love to connect.
