[9 October 2025] Invited to Speak at Great Union GU, Great Eastern Agency

We were honoured to be invited as speakers at the recent Great Union GU, a Great Eastern Agency event, where iElder Asia had the opportunity to share knowledge alongside a room full of financial planners, health advocates, and community leaders. The event served as a meaningful platform to explore what ageing well truly looks like, beyond savings and protection plans, and into the heart of health, healing, and safe living.
Two important topics were presented by our speakers:
1.Integrative Medicine for Cancer, Stroke and Dementia presented by Dr. Kong Why Hong, and
2. Home modification for elderly safety and independence, presented by Olivia Quah from iElder.

Dr. Kong Why Hong Speaking on Integrative Medicine
Dr. Kong delivered a compelling and eye-opening session on how integrative medicine is reshaping the way we approach chronic and degenerative illnesses. Instead of viewing treatment as a single path, integrative medicine combines the best of conventional medical care with complementary therapies, addressing the physical, emotional, and lifestyle dimensions of healing.
Dr. Kong shared how cancer, dementia, and stroke - three of the most challenging conditions affecting ageing adults- respond better when treatment expands beyond medication alone. Nutritional therapy, stress reduction, movement-based therapies, sleep optimization, and supportive care all play a crucial role in enhancing recovery and quality of life.
The talk reinforced a key idea we champion at AIM Healthcare:
Ageing well requires a holistic approach, mind, body, and environment working together.

Ms. Olivia Quah shares about Home Modification
The second part of the session was delivered by Olivia, who focused on a topic close to iElder’s mission - home modifications for ageing in place. She reminded the audience that while many seniors desire to remain in their own homes, traditional home layouts are rarely senior-friendly and can lead to falls, injuries, or daily difficulties that quietly reduce independence.
Olivia walked the audience through practical and effective ways to transform a home into a safe, comfortable, and empowering environment for older adults. From strategic grab bar placement, anti-slip flooring, and safer bathroom layouts, to proper lighting, furniture adjustments, and wheelchair-friendly pathways, she illustrated how even small changes can dramatically improve quality of life.
Her key takeaway was clear:
Ageing in place is possible, but it requires intentional design.

Final Thoughts
The event highlighted the powerful connection between health, home environment, and financial readiness. Great Eastern’s agents play a vital role in preparing individuals for the future, and by integrating knowledge from medical care and elder-support services, we can collectively build a more holistic, supportive ecosystem for Malaysia’s ageing population.
We are grateful to Great Eastern for providing the platform and to all participants who engaged, asked questions, and showed genuine interest in supporting seniors more effectively.
At AIM Healthcare and iElder, we remain committed to empowering families, caregivers, and seniors through education, practical solutions, and compassionate guidance. We look forward to continuing these collaborations and bringing more insights to the community.
