[April 2022 Webinar] Assistive Gadgets for Living Well with Parkinson's
In conjunction with World Parkinson's Awareness Month, iElder.asia collaborated with the Malaysian Parkinson's Disease Association to host a webinar to introduce and demonstrate how assistive gadgets could be used to improve the quality of life of both Parkinson's patients and their caretakers.
We invited guest speaker Benjamin Noel Sebastian from Global Home Health Malaysia, an experienced physiotherapist to provide insight into how to properly use and adjust equipment for Parkinson's patients, and to explain what sorts of gadgets help to overcome specific symptoms they commonly exhibit.
Check out the video above to watch the entire webinar!
AboutMalaysian Parkinson's Disease Association
The first Parkinson's support group in Malaysia formed on 12th September 1994 for people with Parkinson's, their caregivers, family members and supporters.
The Association was set up in 1994 as the first national support group for people with Parkinson's, their caregivers and family members. One of the founding members, the late Mr. Lloyd Tan Pao Chan, a person with Parkinson's himself became the first President of the Association. Its main aim is to provide support and improve the quality of life for PD patients and their families. It is basically a self-help organisation where members learn from and support one another.
The Association EDUCATES through medical talks/seminars by medical, healthcare specialists, etc, about Parkinson's Disease.
I have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease since 2010, by the VA. I found that none of the current medications worked (side effects for me). I currently take pramipexole dihydrochloride three times daily. It isn’t working well neither. I still have some tremors. Was on carbidopa levodopa but only lasted 90 minutes then wore off. Down side of carbidopa is after reaching max dosage it will no longer give relief, nothing was working for me and to make matters worse There has been little if any progress in finding a reliable medical treatment for Parkinson’s disease, I was approved by my neurologist to try feasible alternatives to my current prescribed medication in the hope of improving my quality of life. and I have to say this natural treatment is a 100% game changer for anyone with PD. It has been a complete turnaround with my balance, mobility, double vision, swollen feet, speech and tremors this is the best that I’ve felt in years. I have stop taking levodopa completely for several months, at least 7 months now, and still feel great.” Visit healthherbsclinic. com
