Cares Expo Taipei 2025: A Showcase of Innovation

Cares Expo Taipei 2025: A Showcase of Innovation

From September 24 to 27, 2025, Taipei became the center of the care industry in Asia Pacific. It was an incredible privilege for both Dr. Kong, founder of AIM Healthcare, and Olivia Quah from iElder, to attend this year’s Asia Pacific Care Industry Forum (ACIF) and Cares Expo Taipei 2025.

What we experienced was far more than just a conference and exhibition — it was a journey of learning, sharing, and connecting with people who are equally passionate about improving the future of care.

The Taipei International Care Expo 2025 brought together leaders from government, academia, industry, and global organizations to address one of the most pressing issues of our time: how to create a sustainable, innovative, and compassionate care ecosystem for an aging society.

From lifelong learning and age-friendly housing to medical integration and digital transformation, the Expo served as both a showcase and a think tank. Below are the key takeaways that stood out:

Lifelong Learning as a New Growth Area

With declining birth rates reshaping the education sector, it’s no longer enough to focus solely on youth. The idea of “Third Life Universities” for older adults reflects a powerful shift—lifelong learning is not only a social necessity but also an economic opportunity. Education will play a central role in enabling older adults to thrive intellectually, socially, and even vocationally.

Age-Friendly Housing is Urgent

Taiwan is home to more than 700,000 older adults living alone, underscoring the need for immediate action. Housing design and urban planning must prioritize safety, accessibility, and community connection so that seniors can age in place with dignity and security.

Dementia Care Requires Holistic Support

Dementia does not respect age boundaries, and care approaches must be comprehensive, continuous, and family-centered. Financial planning tools, care trusts, and sustainable funding models are becoming essential in helping families manage the long journey of dementia care.

Medical-Care Integration is Expanding

Hospitals are stepping beyond acute treatment and into long-term care services, bridging gaps between clinical care and everyday living. This integration of medical and social support promises better continuity and outcomes for older patients.

Pharmacy Transformation is Underway

Pharmacies are rapidly evolving into community health hubs, expanding their roles far beyond dispensing medications. Through digital transformation and cross-sector collaboration, pharmacies are positioned to play a key role in preventive care and chronic disease management.

End-of-Life & Spiritual Care is Gaining Recognition

Preparing for death is as important as preparing for life. Forums on death education and spiritual care emphasized the need for emotional, ethical, and spiritual support for older adults and their families. These conversations are becoming a core part of comprehensive elder care.

From September 25 to 27, the spotlight shifted to the Cares Expo Taipei. With 17,000 square meters of exhibition space and over 12 themed pavilions, it was a vibrant showcase of smart health technologies, assistive devices, dementia-friendly innovations, and integrated care models.

Walking through the exhibition was like walking into the future — each booth offering not only a product, but a possibility. The passion of the innovators we met was inspiring. For both Dr. Kong and Olivia Quah, it was a valuable opportunity to explore ideas that could enrich the care landscape back home in Malaysia.

A Highlight: Dr. Kong on Stage

The final day, September 27, was especially meaningful. Dr. Kong, founder of AIM Healthcare, delivered her presentation:

“Learning from International Experience: Collaboration Models between Traditional Chinese Medicine and Long-Term Care Institutions in Malaysia.”

Her talk explored how Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) can complement modern healthcare in long-term care settings, offering a holistic approach to elderly well-being. The audience responded with great interest, sparking thoughtful discussions about how tradition and innovation can be combined in practical, sustainable ways.

After the session, Dr. Kong was also interviewed by the press, further sharing Malaysia’s unique perspective with the international care community. It was truly a proud moment to see his voice representing not only AIM Healthcare but also the Malaysian eldercare ecosystem.

Final Reflection

The Taipei Care Expo 2025 made it clear: care is no longer just a family matter, but a collective responsibility. With societies aging rapidly, the future of care depends on bold ideas, cross-sector integration, and a willingness to innovate.

By reimagining education, redesigning homes, integrating traditional practices, supporting dementia care, and embracing technology, we can create a care ecosystem that is not only sustainable but also deeply human.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on this journey, we feel grateful to have been part of ACIF and Cares Expo Taipei 2025. It was more than an event — it was an exchange of knowledge, cultures, and friendships.

We return home inspired and motivated, with fresh ideas to strengthen eldercare in Malaysia and across the Asia Pacific region. Because at the heart of it all, care knows no borders.

👉 Thank you, Taipei, for the learning, the memories, and the connections. Until we meet again!

— Dr. Kong (Founder of AIM Healthcare) & Olivia Quah (iElder)

In conjunction with this trip, Dr. Kong also delivered a talk in Taipei, Taiwan on “Exploring Regenerative Medicine (再生医疗的探索)” — a field filled with hope, science, and endless possibilities. 🌱

Regenerative medicine is more than just treatment; it is about renewal, healing, and restoring life. This vision inspires us every day to push boundaries and reimagine what is possible.

This marks only the beginning of an incredible journey, and we are truly grateful to share it with so many passionate minds and hearts.
