iElder @ 1st Asian Falls Network & 4th Fragility Fracture Network of Malaysia Annual Scientific Meeting 2025
The 1st Asian Falls Network & 4th Fragility Fracture Network of Malaysia (FFN Malaysia) Annual Scientific Meeting 2025 took place on 12–13 September 2025 at The Vertical, CECC, bringing together a vibrant community of healthcare professionals, researchers, and industry leaders.
This landmark event focused on the urgent issues of falls prevention and fragility fracture management, topics of critical importance as Asia faces the challenges of an aging population. Experts from across the region shared groundbreaking research, practical solutions, and collaborative strategies to improve patient outcomes and strengthen healthcare systems.

Integrating Emerging Technologies in Fall and Fracture Prevention
As we grow older, one of the greatest fears many seniors face is falling. A simple misstep at home can result in broken bones, long hospital stays, or worse, a loss of independence. We have seen how one fall can change the life of an older adult and their family overnight. That’s why we were deeply encouraged to hear about a project presented by Monash University Malaysia Prof. Dr. Teh Pei Lee on Integrating Emerging Technologies in Fall and Fracture Prevention.
What struck me most was how the study places older adults at the center. It isn’t just about inventing fancy devices—it’s about asking seniors themselves: Does this help you? Do you feel safer using it? Too often, technology is designed without the user’s voice, but here, their assessment matters.
We are also proud that iElder is involved in this meaningful project by contributing assistive technologies from around the world. For instance:
Germany’s Wissner-Borssehoff beds – lowering the risk of falls when getting in and out of bed.
Japan’s Kawamura wheelchairs – designed with comfort and maneuverability in mind.
Sweden’s Etac commode shower chairs – restoring dignity and independence in daily routines.
These aren’t just products; they are lifelines. They bring peace of mind to families and confidence back to older adults who want to age in place, safely and with dignity.
The truth is, preventing falls is more than a medical issue—it’s about preserving quality of life. When an older person feels secure moving around their own home, they stay active, cheerful, and connected to the people they love. No fear of falling means no fear of living.
We can’t help but feel hopeful when we see academia, industry, and community working hand in hand like this. With compassion guiding innovation, we believe we are taking steps toward a safer, kinder future for our seniors.

Fall prevention is far more critical than many realise. Falls and fractures remain one of the leading causes of disability among older adults. Through this event, we gained a deeper understanding of how early intervention, home modifications, and caregiver awareness can significantly reduce such risks.
Equally important is the collaboration between healthcare professionals and the eldercare industry. The discussions highlighted the vital role of integrated care — where doctors, therapists, nurses, and eldercare providers work hand in hand as part of a broader ecosystem to support ageing populations.
From an educational standpoint, we now recognise the importance to provide families with practical information, safety tips, and real-life success stories. Many caregivers and adult children are still unaware of the early signs of frailty or how to respond after a fall.
This experience reaffirmed that quality eldercare goes beyond treatment — it’s about prevention, education, and compassion. We have a responsibility to make these messages clearer and more accessible to the families who need them most.

As proud sponsors, AIM Healthcare and iElder reaffirm our commitment to supporting initiatives that advance elderly healthcare and fall prevention. We believe that partnerships between healthcare providers, researchers, and industry stakeholders are key to creating lasting impact.
✨ Together, we can build a safer, healthier future for our aging communities.
