Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) offers a distinctive framework for understanding health and illness. A specialist talk organised by AIM Healthcare focused on the inheritance and clinical application of spleen and stomach theory, exploring its role in TCM approaches to digestive conditions and complex illnesses.

Around 40 Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners attended the talk, coming together for an evening of professional learning and knowledge exchange.

The session was advertised for Monday, 19 October 2026, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at AIM Healthcare Integrated Centre in Subang Jaya.

Learning from Professor Liu Youzhang

The featured speaker, Professor Liu Youzhang (刘友章), was introduced on the event poster as a chief physician, professor and doctoral supervisor in gastroenterology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine.

His listed areas of work include TCM spleen and stomach theory, digestive system conditions, and integrative approaches to complex illnesses.

From traditional theory to clinical discussion

The talk’s theme, “The Inheritance and Clinical Practice of Spleen and Stomach Theory,” connected classical TCM concepts with contemporary clinical practice.

The programme outlined four areas of discussion: the core ideas of spleen and stomach theory and their clinical relevance; TCM pattern differentiation for digestive conditions; perspectives on complex conditions, including myasthenia gravis; and clinical case sharing with interactive discussion.

Within TCM, “spleen and stomach” refers to a traditional theoretical framework. These terms should not be understood as identical to the organs and their functions as described in modern medicine.

An opportunity for knowledge exchange

By bringing traditional theory, clinical perspectives and case-based discussion together, the programme was designed to encourage learning and professional exchange.
