Population ageing is a global trend that has become a significant issue for societies and governments worldwide. This shift shapes national priorities, highlighting the need to address the well-being, inclusion, and active participation of older adults in development strategies. In Malaysia, as the nation experiences an ageing population alongside middle-income growth, sustainability has become a core aspect of policy discussions.
The National Conference on Ageing 2024, held from October 23-24, stands as Malaysia’s leading scientific forum on ageing. This flagship event provides a crucial platform for sharing recent findings from esteemed public and private university researchers, advancing diverse approaches to address ageing within the framework of national development.
Over the two-day event, there were 58 oral presentations and 26 poster presentations. Moving forward, this wealth of information provides a foundation for actionable strategies and collaborative efforts. By uniting researchers, policymakers, and practitioners, we can drive meaningful change in policies and practices, ultimately enhancing the lives of older adults in Malaysia. This conference calls on all stakeholders to harness this knowledge, fostering partnerships that translate insights into impactful action.
